Position Summary The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely flow of goods from inventory through outbound shipment. This role manages warehouse staff, inventory accuracy, transportation coordination, and continuous process improvement while maintaining safety and cost-control standards Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and manage daily distribution/warehouse operations to meet service level and cost targets Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; manage scheduling and labor planning Oversee inventory accuracy and stock control processes Coordinate with transportation/logistics teams to ensure on-time delivery Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs): order accuracy, on-time shipment rate, etc. Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations; enforce safety protocols Identify and implement process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies Manage relationships with carriers, and third-party logistics providers Collaborate cross-functionally with production, Account Manager, and customer service teams to align distribution capacity with demand Maintain and optimize use of warehouse management systems and ERP tools Handle escalations related to shipping errors, delays, or inventory discrepancies Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field required MBA or advanced degree in supply chain/operations preferred Relevant certifications a plus:
APICS/ASCM
(CPIM or CSCP), Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) Experience 5-10 years of experience in distribution, warehousing, or logistics operations 2-5 years in a supervisory or management capacity, ideally overseeing a team or facility Demonstrated experience with WMS/ERP systems (JDE) Experience managing budgets and P&L responsibility Skills Strong leadership and team management abilities Data-driven decision-making and KPI/analytics proficiency Proficiency in Excel and warehouse/ERP software Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Strong problem-solving skills, especially under time pressure Knowledge of safety compliance standards (OSHA) Preferred / Nice-to-Have International shipping/customs knowledge (for global distribution) E-commerce/omnichannel fulfillment experience Physical Requirements Ability to walk/stand for extended periods on the warehouse floor Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required Comfortable working in a warehouse/distribution center environment (varying temperatures, noise levels)
