Job Description

Assistant Operations Manager/Receiving and Shipping Manager - Full time Our dynamic, forward thinking, wholesale seafood company is looking for someone to join our team as a benefit eligible full time year-round employee. Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Supports and works closely with Ops Manager and the entire operations team. Ensures staff are maintaining standards set forth by WSC. Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations programs and systems. Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization's goals and objectives. Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution. Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements. Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided. Responsible for all physical receiving, shipping, and real-time inventory. Ensures correct checking, sorting, and grading of shellfish and other products as assigned. Proficient in sorting, packing, rotating, shucking, processing, and receiving of product. Understands and can administer processes for ensuring equipment is in good working order including but not limited to the operation of the lobster tanks. Monitors each stage of the processing process, recording each run as complete and ready for storage as appropriate. Working with team, ensures equipment is sterile and processing area is clean. Ensures food handling regulations and vendor recommendations for processing and sanitation are implemented and followed. Support all shift and department managers Operates as lead in the absence of Ops Manager Is a leader and role model to other staff Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Passionate about shellfish and the fishing industry. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the seafood industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with team members, vendors, and stakeholders confidently.. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven experience in like, kind and quality shipping and warehouse operations Familiarity with operational software systems and basic data analysis tools is preferred. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to follow directions. Ability to assess products for quality compliance. Strong time management skills; with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Understanding of principles and processes of customer service. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
At least 2 to 3 years of industry-related experience in seafood and/or warehouse control. Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and moving on the processing floor. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Be active and participating in overall warehouse and floor management. Do not delay.
