Role:
The Logistics Coach is responsible for managing carrier relationships, executing routing strategies at nursery level, and coordinating transportation operations at the nursery location. This role focuses on contracting carriers, negotiating freight rates, executing route assignments received from the National Router, and coordinating closely with local shipping staff, loading teams, and grower coaches to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of quality products to customers.

Shift:
Morning shift between 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Saturday, hours are subject to change based on business need. What You'll Do You will… Contract and manage relationships with trucking companies and freight brokers Negotiate competitive freight rates and service agreements with carriers Manage carrier expectations by setting clear service standards and performance metrics Maintain carrier scorecards to track performance Reduce freight costs through strategic rate negotiations and carrier performance management Monitor freight spends and identify cost-saving opportunities Assist with budget execution and track transportation costs against budget targets Receive routing information from the National Router and execute route assignments Ensure trucks arrive and depart on time Supervise and coordinate daily activities of shipping and receiving staff Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and support Conduct regular check-ins with staff to address concerns and ensure efficient operations Coordinate with loading teams to ensure efficient trailer loading and on-time departures Collaborate with grower coaches to align shipping schedules with production needs Coordinate the use of docks Build strong relationships with team members to achieve shipping goals Communicate effectively with drivers, loading teams, supervisors, and sales staff Lead training for new shipping team members on loading procedures and safety protocols Develop and maintain training materials for shipping and loading best practices Mentor team members and support their professional development Provide coaching and feedback to shipping and receiving staff Coordinate with loading coach to ensure consistent training standards Track on-time delivery performance and address service failures with carriers Analyze transportation data to identify improvement opportunities Monitor and evaluate shipping and receiving staff performance Track and report on transportation costs and cost-saving initiatives Support administrative tasks including documentation, invoicing, and record-keeping Support the department in other tasks to achieve departmental and nursery goals Who You Are You… Ideally, have Education, experience, or knowledge of the logistics or transportation industry At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a professional office setting Supervisory or leadership experience managing shipping or warehouse teams Negotiation skills and experience in cost management Strong relationship management and communication skills Leadership and people management skills Ability to learn and use routing software, TMS systems, and tracking platforms Knowledge of U.S. geography, major highways, and shipping lanes Strong planning and execution skills Proficient in Excel with analytical abilities for cost tracking Attendance record within company policy Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends during busy spring season Focus on efficiency and quality Strong analytical skills to analyze carrier data and understand operations Excellent organizational and time management skills High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Strong interpersonal skills for managing teams and relationships Benefits at Monrovia When you participate in our 401(k) plan, you'll get a company match of up to 4%.
