Job Description

Job Summary

Aviation Search Group is partnering with Alaska Air Transit, a respected Alaska-based Part 135 air

carrier with a fleet of seven turboprop aircraft providing both scheduled commuter and on-demand charter

services throughout the state. With a team of approximately 40 employees, the company serves a diverse

customer base, transporting passengers and freight to destinations across Alaska. Its operations range

from scheduled service to remote communities, where dependable air transportation is a critical lifeline,

to specialized crew-change flights supporting remote mining operations and North Slope oil field

activities. Anchorage serves as the company's sole operating station.

A stable, privately held organization, Alaska Air Transit has built its reputation on three core principles

that guide everyday decisions and actions: safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service.

Reporting directly to the Owner, the Station Manager oversees all non-FAA-regulated functions and

serves as the senior operational leader for the customer-facing and ground operations side of the business.

This role carries full accountability for station personnel, service delivery, operational performance, and

financial results, ensuring the organization continues to meet its commitments to customers and

communities across Alaska.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Running the day is the core of this job. Every morning begins with coordinating the efforts of all
  • departments to ensure that they are working toward customers' goals, and to ensure the team's internal
  • needs are being met. The Station Manager oversees a dynamic operation that combines scheduled
  • commuter service with on-demand charter flying, all within an environment where weather and changing
  • conditions can quickly alter plans. When disruptions occur, the Station Manager becomes the central
  • point of coordination, making real-time decisions to rebuild the day's operation. This includes
  • reprioritizing schedules, coordinating aircraft and crew movements, managing freight and passenger
  • needs, and maintaining clear communication with customers and employees.
Beyond that daily rhythm, this role carries:

Leadership, development, and staffing of the customer service, reservations, freight, and ramp teams, including coverage across a seven-day operation

Final accountability for customer service escalations, including relationships with high value charter customers

Service standards across passenger handling, freight, and ramp operations

Coordination with the flight operations, maintenance, and safety functions while respecting the boundaries of the FAA regulated side of the business

Hiring, onboarding, and building the bench so the station is not dependent on any single individual

Requirements

Currently live in or previously lived in Alaska and want to return. This is a firm requirement. Understanding the markets, the customers, and the realities of a long Alaska winter is essential to succeeding in this position.

Demonstrated leadership of frontline teams, with a track record of developing people rather than

simply directing them

A genuine person who can balance the needs of employees against the company's obligation to deliver high-quality service to its customers

Composure and judgment under disruption, with the instinct to solve problems before being asked

Ability to work effectively with a multicultural workforce and customer base, which reflects the state we operate in

Preferred qualifications, though not required:

Part 135 or aviation operations experience. Strong operational leaders from logistics, freight, marine, or hospitality backgrounds in Alaska will be seriously considered

A four-year degree in business or a related field

Experience serving rural or remote communities
