Drive the strategy. We're looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to take a strategic, companywide approach to one of the most important parts of our business
our fleet.
This role is responsible for helping ensure we have the right equipment, in the right quantities, in the right locations, at the right time. From construction equipment and rental assets to pickups, stake beds, water trucks, and other fleet vehicles, you'll use utilization, customer demand, re-rent activity, equipment lifecycle, and financial performance to help guide major fleet decisions.
THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION, WITH THE OPTION TO WORK FROM SANTA FE SPRINGS OR CORONA
This is a highly visible role that works closely with our General Manager, CFO, CEO, and operational leadership to determine where we invest, where we have gaps, and how we get the greatest return from our fleet.
What You'll Do Own Fleet Planning & Procurement Evaluate fleet needs across locations and equipment categories. Recommend new equipment purchases based on utilization, demand, availability, growth, and operational needs. Develop fleet acquisition and replacement plans. Work with manufacturers, dealers, and vendors on pricing, availability, lead times, and purchasing opportunities. Identify aging, excess, or underperforming assets and recommend replacement, transfer, sale, or other disposition. Turn Fleet Data Into Decisions Monitor utilization and identify shortages, excess capacity, and changing demand. Analyze re-rent activity to determine where recurring outside rentals may justify adding equipment to our own fleet. Identify opportunities to transfer equipment between locations rather than re-rent externally. Partner with rental, sales, dispatch, service, and branch leadership to anticipate equipment needs before they become shortages. Manage Fleet Investment Develop annual and long-term fleet acquisition budgets in partnership with executive leadership. Track purchases and capital expenditures against approved budgets. Evaluate equipment lifecycle, acquisition cost, utilization, and anticipated return on investment. Present clear, data-driven recommendations to support major purchasing decisions. Keep the Fleet Compliant Oversee fleet-related DMV registration, permitting, and regulatory requirements. Manage applicable CARB and DOORS compliance , including EIN and fleet reporting requirements. Monitor emissions, registration, reporting, and other regulatory deadlines. Stay current on regulatory changes affecting trucks and construction equipment. What We're Looking For You understand that a strong fleet isn't simply a large fleet
it's a fleet that matches the business.
The ideal candidate brings:
5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, equipment rental, construction equipment, procurement, or a related field. Strong knowledge of construction equipment and rental fleet operations . Experience with fleet procurement, utilization analysis, capital planning, or equipment lifecycle management. Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to turn operational data into smart purchasing decisions. Experience managing significant capital budgets and competing purchasing priorities. Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with executives and operational teams. Proficiency with fleet/rental management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel. Construction equipment rental or dealership experience is strongly preferred . A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience will absolutely be considered.
