Career advancement opportunities As a Transportation Manager you will lead planning, routing and oversight of Ascentek's transportation operations. You will direct supervisors and drivers to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective deliveries while maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA and HAZMAT regulations. Success in this role requires strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to develop high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Include:
Hire, train and retain supervisors and drivers to build a strong transportation team
Develop and maintain performance metrics to drive operational results
Monitor compliance with company policies, safety standards and regulatory requirements
Lead ongoing evaluations and annual performance reviews for transportation staff
Guide, plan, organize and motivate team members to achieve goals and deliver results
Improve delivery efficiency and reduce transportation costs through process improvements
Partner with leaders across the business to align policies and objectives
Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally
Analyze financial data to manage expenses and ensure alignment with approved budgets
Drive analytics and KPI development to track transportation performance
Ensure fleet operations are supported by effective maintenance programs
Promote collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement within the transportation team
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education:
High school diploma or GED Preferred Experience and/or
Training:
5-7 years of prior transportation management experience
Experience managing fleet maintenance programs
Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:
Strong working knowledge of DOT, HAZMAT and OSHA regulations
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
Good judgment and decision-making with critical thinking abilities
Experience in wholesale distribution preferred
Knowledge of warehousing and inventory control a plus Experience and/or
Training:
Technical or college education preferred
Experience in fleet management within wholesale distribution
Formal training in transportation safety or compliance programs
Background in inventory and warehouse integration with transportation operations
Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing and walking with regular use of hands for computer and paperwork
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
Strong reasoning, communication and problem-solving skills required to manage complex operations
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-paced environment
Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with warehouse settings
Exposure to noise and activity typical of a transportation and distribution environment The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $92,026 and $117,235 annually. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below: Experience and qualifications: The depth of relevant experience and specific skills you bring to the position.
Education and certifications: Any additional qualifications that enhance your ability to succeed in the role.
