What is the job purpose?
Shipment Tracking:
Monitor ocean freight from booking and overseas shipping instructions to final door delivery.
Documentation & Customs:
Process customs entries, review commercial invoices, and handle filings for Partner Government Agencies (like the FDA or USDA).
Issue Resolution:
Address shipment delays, exam holds, demurrage charges, and routing exceptions quickly.
Financial Management:
Forecast job costs, manage payables and receivables, invoice clients, and dispute incorrect vendor charges
Supervisory Responsibilities Team Leadership:
Train, coach, and mentor freight forwarding imports staff.
Performance Management:
Provide input for employee evaluations, recommend hires or promotions, and resolve personnel issues.
Process Optimization:
Set daily operational goals, run performance reports, and improve workflow efficiency across the department Supervise and manage and plan the logistics flows of customer's import shipments, coordinating suppliers and foreign agents, providing customer with constant support and weekly reports, minimize the extra charges. Direct operational activities to ensure all shipments are processed quickly and smoothly. What will be your Key Responsibilities?
- Understand accounts' business strategy, objectives and risks/constraints; continually focus efforts on providing solutions to achieving objectives and mitigating risks/constraints.
- Continuously pursue and implement more efficiency and cost reduction measures.
- Provide accounts with market updates (trade agreements, strikes, new capacity being introduced, etc.) and educational support.
- Address and resolve delays, claims, losses and other issues with urgency.
- Manage the import team, workflow, assignments, procedures, and escalated issues. Adhere to client and company SOPs, and justify any deviations or changes.
- Provide activity reports.
- Nurture productive and professional relationships clients and vendors, with integration and development of related IT support, enabling the customer to track data on the company's IT systems.
What are we looking for? 5 Years Experience in international freight forwarding is a must Command of documentation, procedures and rules for Ocean cargo is highly preferred. Good analytical and program management skills; ability to define, develop and document business processes and procedures. Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines. Excellent at problem solving. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
