Full-time, Monday through Friday Approximate hours: 12:00 p.m.-8:00 or 9:00 p.m. An established transportation, warehousing and distribution company is confidentially seeking a dependable, organized and hands-on Afternoon Warehouse & Fleet Supervisor. This position will oversee afternoon warehouse operations, check in returning drivers and vehicles, coordinate freight placement, track fleet maintenance and ensure the operation is properly prepared for the following business day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse and Freight Operations Oversee receiving, unloading, staging, storage and outbound loading Check in all returning trucks and delivery crews as they arrive Inspect returning trucks for new damage, mechanical concerns, cleanliness and missing equipment Document and report truck damage or maintenance issues to upper management Verify that returned freight is properly wrapped, protected, labeled and tagged Inspect returned equipment for visible damage and missing accessories Ensure returned freight is placed in the correct warehouse location Direct drivers and helpers where to unload and store freight Confirm that products and accessories are properly scanned and entered into the warehouse system Ensure freight is not left in aisles, loading areas or incorrect storage locations Review the following day's routes and establish the correct staging and loading order Confirm that each route is accurately loaded onto the correct truck Verify equipment quantities, identifying information, accessories and paperwork Ensure outgoing freight is properly wrapped, secured and protected from damage Maintain a clean, safe and organized warehouse Fleet Responsibilities Maintain an accurate fleet-status list showing which trucks are available, assigned, in the shop, out of service or due for maintenance Keep track of preventive-maintenance schedules, mileage, inspections, registrations and required service Review and follow up on mechanical concerns reported by drivers Schedule maintenance and repairs with approved vendors Coordinate getting trucks brought to repair facilities and picked up when service is completed Confirm that completed repairs have been documented Ensure trucks are clean, fueled, equipped and ready for the following day Verify that required tools, straps, blankets, dollies and delivery equipment are present Communicate truck availability and maintenance concerns to dispatch and upper management Prevent trucks that are out of service or awaiting repair from being assigned to routes Employee Supervision and Administration Provide direction to warehouse employees, drivers and helpers during the afternoon shift Ensure employees follow warehouse, safety, inventory and vehicle procedures Address performance, conduct and procedural issues when they occur Present disciplinary write-ups that have been reviewed and approved by upper management Obtain employee signatures acknowledging approved write-ups and return completed documentation to management or HR Distribute and collect forms, policy acknowledgements and other paperwork requested by HR Ensure required paperwork is completed accurately and returned by the established deadline Document call-outs, late arrivals, incidents and employee-related concerns Escalate serious or repeated employee issues to upper management Operational and Customer Support Coordinate with dispatch regarding route changes, missing equipment, returned freight and special delivery requirements Monitor returning drivers, trucks, paperwork and equipment Answer customer questions related to deliveries, pickups, returned equipment, warehouse status or other operational matters Research customer questions and provide accurate updates when information is available Refer pricing, sales, claims or other matters outside the position's authority to the appropriate department Communicate delivery damage, missing freight, customer complaints and service concerns to management Address warehouse, staffing, fleet and loading issues before the end of the shift Prepare a written handoff identifying anything that could affect the following day's operation
QUALIFICATIONS
Warehouse, distribution, transportation or fleet experience preferred Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills Ability to direct employees and hold team members accountable Professional communication skills when assisting customers Experience with inventory, scanning or warehouse-management systems is a plus Knowledge of commercial trucks, preventive maintenance and DOT requirements is a plus Knowledge of Samsara or another fleet-management system is a plus CDL or previous commercial driving experience is a plus Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely Ability to lift and move equipment as required Dependable attendance and willingness to remain until daily responsibilities are completed This is a confidential search.
