Full-time • Field-based Coordinates with: Lead Mechanic, Fleet Director, and branch operations teams Position Summary The On-Site Assistant Manager is the fleet's presence in the field — the person who keeps vehicles physically moving through every stage of their lifecycle. While scheduling, billing, and records administration are handled centrally, this role executes everything that has to happen in person: transporting and staging vehicles, running registry and inspection errands, documenting vehicle condition at the source, and providing hands-on support for accidents, deliveries, and end-of-life dispositions. When work is scheduled, this role makes sure the vehicle actually gets there — and gets back. Key Responsibilities Vehicle Logistics & Movement Transport vehicles to and from the in-house shop and outside service vendors once work has been scheduled, so no scheduled job stalls waiting on a vehicle. Stage and shuttle vehicles between branch locations to keep units where they are needed. Receive newly delivered factory-order trucks and route them through upfitting — paint (Maaco) and wrap/lettering vendors — until they are field-ready. Own the physical hand-off for services booked at the NJ location, from drop-off through pickup. Compliance & Registry Field Work Perform registry runs — registration, plates, and permits — and complete inspection drop-offs and pickups. Move vehicles the Lead Mechanic has made inspection-ready to and from inspection sites on schedule. Field Documentation & Data Capture Serve as the field capture point for fleet records: verify odometer readings, document vehicle condition, take photos, and collect NJ HQ paperwork for entry into the fleet system. Install and swap physical toll transponders across the fleet as needed. Accident / MVA Field Support Provide support after an incident: photograph and document vehicle condition, coordinate tows, and move damaged vehicles. Assist the Fleet Director with accident claims and first-notice-of-loss processing by supplying timely, accurate field documentation. Lifecycle, Disposal & General Support Prepare end-of-life vehicles for remarketing — remove decals, equipment, and company property as applicable. Handle routine parts and supply runs and other field errands as directed. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; comfortable operating a range of fleet vehicles. Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage a moving schedule of field tasks across multiple locations. Clear communicator — accurate documentation and timely hand-offs to internal teams. Able to lift and handle equipment and work outdoors in varying conditions.
