On-the-job training and continued development Opportunities for advancement as the company grows A close-knit team environment A relaxed but productive atmosphere Hands-on outdoor work with a variety of projects Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Landscape Crew Lead who can lead a crew while also working alongside them. This is not a position where you simply receive an assignment and focus on your own work. Our Crew Leads are responsible for owning the flow of the jobsite. You will work closely with our Project Manager to understand the project plan and then lead the crew through the day-to-day execution of that plan. That means setting the daily goal, assigning work, keeping people moving, checking quality as the work is being completed, solving problems, and communicating issues before they turn into delays. The right person for this role knows landscape construction, but just as importantly, knows how to lead people. Responsibilities As a Crew Lead, you will: Lead and work alongside a landscape construction crew. Hold a short daily startup meeting so everyone understands the day's goal, assignments, work sequence, quality expectations, and safety concerns. Give each crew member clear direction and make sure they know what needs to happen next. Keep the crew productive and manage transitions between different phases of the project. Set the pace through your own example while still maintaining awareness of the entire jobsite. Read and understand landscape plans, drawings, measurements, specifications, and project scopes. Coordinate with the Project Manager regarding project progress, materials, equipment, changes, and jobsite needs. Identify missing materials, information, equipment, or other roadblocks early and communicate them before they stop production. Inspect work throughout the day instead of waiting until the project is finished to find mistakes. Make sure work meets Urban Forest quality standards before moving on to the next phase. Train and coach crew members on proper landscape construction techniques, quality expectations, and safe work practices. Correct problems and provide direction when expectations are not being met. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsite. Protect client property and represent Urban Forest professionally when interacting with homeowners, contractors, vendors, and other trades. Take progress photos and provide required job updates. Properly use company CRM/software for project information, documentation, photos, and communication. Help prepare the jobsite for the following day, including tools, equipment, materials, and the next phase of work. Follow and enforce company safety standards, PPE requirements, and equipment procedures. Take ownership of problems instead of walking past them or waiting for someone else to handle them. Landscape Experience Candidates should have hands-on experience with several areas of landscape construction, including: Irrigation and sprinkler systems Grading and site preparation Sod installation Plant and tree installation Pavers and hardscapes Retaining walls Drainage Landscape lighting Basic equipment operation Proper use of landscape tools and machinery Experience with larger outdoor living projects is a plus. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Has previous landscape construction experience. Has previous leadership, foreman, or Crew Lead experience preferred. Has strong knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials, tools, and proper installation techniques. Can lead a crew while still being willing to work alongside them. Can communicate clearly and respectfully with employees and management. Is organized and able to plan ahead instead of constantly reacting to problems. Can manage multiple tasks and priorities without losing attention to detail. Takes pride in producing clean, high-quality work. Can identify problems and work toward solutions without needing constant supervision. Is comfortable holding team members accountable and providing direction when needed. Is dependable, punctual, and prepared for work. Is willing to learn new systems, techniques, and company standards. Can safely operate landscape tools and equipment. Has a valid driver's license and is comfortable driving company vehicles and trailers as needed. Can perform physically demanding outdoor work in changing weather conditions. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
What Success Looks Like:
A successful Crew Lead at Urban Forest does more than get the project completed. Your crew knows the plan. Your crew knows what they should be working on. Materials and tools are ready when they're needed. Problems are communicated early. Quality issues are caught before they become rework. The jobsite stays clean and professional. And the crew continues to perform whether the owner or Project Manager is standing there or not. Our standard is productive + correct. We don't want rushed, sloppy work, and we don't want a crew standing around waiting for someone to tell them what to do. We want leaders who can keep a project moving while protecting the quality of the finished product. Our Big 4 Ownership

Take care of our clients and your teammates. Communicate clearly and help the team succeed. Growth
Stay teachable, accept feedback, learn new skills, and look for better ways to do the work. Pride
Care about the details and leave behind work you're proud to put the Urban Forest name on.
