Yard Supervisor Brownco Construction Co., Inc. Anaheim, CA Job Details Full-time $25 - $27 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) matching Retirement plan Qualifications Forklift Certification Equipment repair Forklift Driver's License Materials handling Pallet jack Full Job Description Job Summary Yard Supervisor is a critical, hands-on member of Brownco Construction Company, Inc.'s Field Operations support structure. This position is responsible for the complete day-to-day management of Brownco's construction shop and yard — including organization, cleanliness, material handling, inventory, load preparation, and the safe operation of material-handling equipment. The Yard Supervisor is the foundation that ensures Brownco's field operations are continuously supplied, equipped, and ready to work. This is a working position, not an administrative one. Yard Supervisor is expected to be physically engaged in yard and shop activities throughout the workday — loading structural steel and concrete materials, operating forklifts, receiving deliveries, staging materials for jobsite delivery, and maintaining the overall condition of Brownco's yard and shop. Responsibilities are dynamic and may shift from coordinating a flatbed load for a field crew to sweeping the yard, and the right individual will take ownership of both without hesitation. The Yard Supervisor reports directly to the Field Operations Manager and works in close coordination with the Field Operations Coordinator, the Procurement Manager, field foremen, and drivers. This position plays a direct role in Brownco's ability to mobilize crews and support active projects across Southern California. Responsibilities 1. Yard & Shop Organization and Cleanliness Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and operationally efficient shop and yard at all times. Keep all aisles, loading areas, workspaces, and access points clear and unobstructed. Establish and maintain a logical, efficient layout for the storage of steel, concrete materials, tools, consumables, and equipment. Perform general shop and yard duties including sweeping, cleanup, trash removal, and miscellaneous labor as needed — no task is beneath this position. Take full ownership of the physical condition and daily readiness of the shop and yard. 2. Material Handling & Load Operations Load and unload structural steel, concrete materials, tools, equipment, and all other construction materials safely and efficiently. Safely secure, strap, and prepare all loads for transportation in compliance with DOT and company standards. Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for delivery to Brownco jobsites in advance of scheduled need dates. Assist with all incoming and outgoing pickup and delivery operations. Ensure all outbound loads are complete, accurate, and properly documented before departure. 3. Forklift & Equipment Operation Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA requirements and Brownco safety policy. Exercise particular care and skill when operating forklifts around long, heavy, and irregularly shaped materials including structural steel. Maintain active Brownco-required forklift certification; report any certification gaps to the Field Operations Manager immediately. Conduct pre-operation equipment checks prior to each use; report any mechanical concerns to the Field Operations Manager. 4. Deliveries & Receiving Receive all incoming deliveries of materials, tools, equipment, and supplies at the yard. Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders or packing slips; immediately report any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials to the Procurement Manager and Field Operations Manager. Stage, organize, and store received materials in designated locations within the yard and shop. Maintain a clean and accessible receiving area at all times. 5. Vehicle & Equipment Movement Move company pickup trucks, flatbed trucks, trailers, and other equipment within the yard as required. Ensure all company vehicles are repositioned safely and without damage. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record is required. 6. Inventory Support Assist with the inventory, tracking, and documentation of tools, materials, and equipment in the yard and shop. Report any missing, damaged, or low-stock items to the Procurement Manager and Field Operations Manager as soon as identified. Maintain organized storage areas that support accurate and rapid inventory counts. 7. Material & Equipment Inspection Inspect incoming and on-hand materials and equipment for visible damage, defects, or obvious maintenance issues. Communicate all identified concerns to the Field Operations Manager in writing (text or email) the same day they are observed. Do not place equipment with known mechanical issues back into service without authorization from the Field Operations Manager. 8. Basic Preventive Maintenance & Minor Repairs Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on yard equipment and small tools when qualified and directed to do so. Perform minor repairs within scope of demonstrated ability; escalate all other repair needs to the Field Operations Manager. Keep a basic log of maintenance performed on yard equipment; share with the Field Operations Coordinator for inclusion in the fleet maintenance record. 9. Coordination with Field & Operations Staff Coordinate daily with field foremen, drivers, project managers, the Field Operations Coordinator, and the Procurement Manager regarding material staging, equipment needs, and delivery schedules. Participate in the daily 2:00 PM P&D (Pickup & Delivery) review as directed by the Field Operations Manager. Communicate proactively — if a material or equipment issue could affect a crew the following morning, escalate it before the end of the current workday. 10. Safety & Compliance Follow all Brownco safety procedures at all times; no production priority overrides the requirement to work safely. Ensure all materials are handled and stored in compliance with applicable safety standards and Brownco policy. Immediately report any safety hazard, near-miss, or incident to the Field Operations Manager. Maintain a safe working environment for all personnel who enter the yard and shop.
