Full Job Description Overview The Cable Prep Supervisor leads a team responsible for cutting, stripping, and preparing wires and cables for complex, customized assemblies. In this high-mix, low-volume environment, you will manage frequent production changeovers, interpret diverse technical schematics, and ensure strict quality compliance while maintaining lean, flexible workflows.
Shift Hours:
3:00pm to 12:00am Core Responsibilities Team Leadership & Production Scheduling Daily oversight of cable preparation technicians. Allocate labor based on changing production schedules. Track daily output against shifting manufacturing deadlines. Cross-train team members on diverse tools and processes. Process & Changeover Management Optimize setups for frequent, low-volume production runs. Reduce machine downtime during gauge and tool changeovers. Enforce 5S and lean manufacturing principles at workstations. Manage material staging to prevent cross-contamination of parts. Technical Guidance & Quality Control Interpret complex blueprints, wiring schematics, and cut sheets. Ensure compliance with IPC-A-620 and WHMA quality standards. Audit cable prepping and stripping for precise tolerances. Troubleshoot specialized automated and semi-automated tooling issues. Inventory & Materials Coordination Coordinate with material handlers to prevent shortages. Validate first-article inspections before launching new batches.
Required Qualifications Experience :
1+ year supervising electronic or cable assembly teams.
HMLV Expertise :
Proven success managing high-mix, low-volume production environments.
Technical Skill :
Deep understanding of wire gauges, cable types, and stripping machinery.
Certifications :
Active or past
IPC-A-620
certification is highly preferred.
Documentation :
Expert ability to read intricate schematics and engineering change notices (ECNs).
Pay:
$20.00 – $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
