American Steel is currently seeking a Plant Supervisor for our evening shift. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in front line supervision, inventory control, problem solving skills and a strong desire to provide excellent customer service. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities Supervise and promote the safe and preventative maintenance of all plant equipment, rolling stock, plant facilities, and shift production. Lead the development of manufacturing and warehousing operations specifically: productivity improvement, service improvement, cost containment, procedural systems, product knowledge, and inventory management. Inventory control Supervise plant personnel to ensure effective daily operations through the responsibilities below: Planning and coordinating work between departments including scheduling and manpower. Monitoring and improving work performance, including adherence to shop rules on an individual and work group basis. Perform trouble shooting and problem solving for the operations staff, sales and customers when needed. Serve as a Company spokesperson and decision maker on the shift. Provide training to Working Foremen and plant personnel to: Establish expectations and provide feedback on job skills in the areas of safety, quality and productivity. Monitor progress against expectations and timeframe. May perform daily physical inventory cycle count in the plant. Interpret and understand the intent of the collective bargaining agreement. Collaborate with other internal departments to satisfy customer needs and ensure quality. Follow all documented company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety and operations. Conduct behavior within the guidelines of the Company Vision, Beliefs and Principles.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a customer service focus and be a self starter. Position requires strong supervisory, training, and coaching skills. Requires a demonstrated knowledge or the ability to learn and apply basic employment law, company human resources policies and the application of collective bargaining agreement language. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, especially listening, conflict resolution, verbal and written skills. Organizational skills including planning, prioritization, time management and attention to detail are necessary. In addition, the following knowledge skills and abilities are utilized: data analysis, math aptitude, budgeting, blueprint reading, technical applications and limits of product lines and plant processing equipment capabilities, computer literacy and business software expertise, office equipment operation, and an understanding of the needs and interrelationships with the other departments of the company.
