Shipping & Receiving Lead Position Summary The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping, receiving, and inventory functions to ensure the accurate, timely, and efficient movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This position leads warehouse personnel, maintains inventory accuracy, coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, and ensures compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations. Key ResponsibilitiesShipping & Receiving Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations. Supervise, train, and support shipping and receiving team members. Ensure all incoming materials are accurately received, inspected, documented, and stored. Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy, packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation. Coordinate carrier schedules, freight pickups, and deliveries. Prepare bills of lading, packing lists, shipping labels, and other required documentation. Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, and receiving issues. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely. Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Customer Service, and Quality to ensure efficient material flow. Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory records through timely and accurate ERP/WMS transactions. Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages or overstock situations to Purchasing and Production. Perform and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts. Coordinate and assist with annual physical inventory counts. Investigate, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies and transaction errors. Ensure inventory locations are properly organized, labeled, and maintained for efficient material retrieval. Verify inventory movements, transfers, returns, and adjustments are accurately documented. Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and implement corrective actions to improve performance. Identify obsolete, damaged, or slow-moving inventory and coordinate appropriate disposition. Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) or other inventory rotation methods are consistently followed where applicable. Maintain accurate lot number, serial number, and traceability records as required. Support inventory audits and provide documentation for internal and external auditors. Work with Production and Purchasing to ensure material availability supports manufacturing schedules. Recommend and implement inventory control improvements that reduce waste, improve accuracy, and increase warehouse efficiency. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Schedule and prioritize daily workload for warehouse personnel. Promote a safe, clean, and organized warehouse using 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles. Monitor department performance and identify opportunities for process improvements. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Assist in developing and enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs). Lead by example in promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree is a plus. 3-5 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, and inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment. 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Experience with ERP/MRP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Strong understanding of inventory control practices, cycle counting, and material traceability. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of inventory control and warehouse best practices. Ability to analyze inventory data and resolve discrepancies. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday. Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment. Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Performance Expectations Maintain inventory accuracy of 98% or higher. Complete cycle counts and inventory reconciliations on schedule. Meet shipping deadlines while minimizing errors. Ensure material availability supports production schedules. Reduce inventory discrepancies through proactive inventory management. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse operation. Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous process improvement.
Pay:
$24.82 - $29.89 per hour
