Dock Master — Nautical Boat Club

•Kemah Nautical Boat Club® is a premier Boating Country Club® franchise located at the Kemah Boardwalk Marina — and we're just getting started. We're a young, tight-knit operation with big ambitions and real room for the right people to grow with us from the ground up. We're currently seeking an energetic, dependable Dock Master to help run day-to-day operations for our club. If you love being on the water, working outdoors, and want real exposure to how a business is built and run — fleet, sales, marketing, and operations — this could be the perfect job for you. This role starts hourly while we get to know each other — for the right person, we're aiming to move it to a salaried position as early as Spring 2027. Beyond that, the ceiling is yours to set: want to log hours toward a USCG Captain's License, work toward becoming a fishing guide, build your sales skills, or dig into marketing? Whatever you want to excel at, we'll help you get there. Pay is based on experience and how much responsibility you want to take on. What You'll Do As Dock Master, you'll be overseeing the front line that keeps our club running smoothly — and a right hand across the business. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Overseeing daily dock operations — prepping boats, checking members in/out, and keeping the fleet in top condition Performing light boat maintenance and repairs, and flagging/coordinating larger mechanical issues with our service vendor Helping manage scheduling — dockhand shifts, member reservations, and fleet logistics Supporting sales — engaging prospective members, giving tours, helping move leads through the pipeline Contributing to marketing — photos, video, social content, member engagement Handling day-to-day admin tasks and helping keep club operations organized Safely docking and maneuvering boats in tight quarters Leading by example for the dockhand team and stepping in wherever the club needs you Delivering exceptional customer service with a friendly, helpful attitude We're looking for someone who is: Outgoing and professional, with strong communication skills — comfortable representing the club to members and prospects A self-starter who takes ownership, not just punches a clock Organized and dependable — someone we can hand scheduling and admin to and trust it gets done Responsible and able to follow safety procedures and instructions Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors 6-10 hours per shift, including hands-on maintenance work Boating-savvy — prior experience driving boats or working around marinas or boat rentals is a big plus Interested in content creation or marketing — an eye for photo/video and a want to help build our brand Working toward (or already holding) a USCG Captain's License Excited by the idea of eventually chartering members, running fishing guide trips, or training new hires Looking to grow into a future manager, regional manager, or even franchise owner down the road Reliable and able to work weekends and summer holidays Able to swim confidently (required)
