Job Title:
General Labor - Construction Truss Assembly $20-22/hr Job Description This role supports construction production by assembling wood trusses in an industrial wood shop environment. You will work on an assembly line performing repetitive tasks that require consistent attention to detail, physical strength, and the ability to use hand and power tools safely. The position involves standing for most of the shift, lifting heavy materials, and ensuring each truss is built accurately according to specifications projected by a laser-guided system. Responsibilities Assemble wood trusses using hand tools, including hammers and nail guns, to attach boards and brackets according to specifications. Follow laser-projected images on the work table to accurately position wood pieces and metal plates in the correct locations. Run finished trusses through a press to ensure all components are securely fastened. Perform repetitive truss-building tasks throughout the day, consistently producing the same or similar truss designs. Lift and move boards weighing up to 70 pounds repeatedly over the course of the shift. Get up and down from a waist-high work table 50-100 times per day to position and assemble materials. Stand on your feet for 8-10 hours per day while performing assembly and production tasks. Use tape measures and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure accurate assembly. Maintain a clean and organized work area in a dusty wood shop and typical manufacturing environment. Follow all safety procedures when working with hand and power tools, presses, and other equipment. Assist with general labor tasks such as loading and unloading materials, moving products, and supporting production needs as required. Work collaboratively with a small team to meet daily production goals and maintain consistent quality. Essential Skills Previous construction-related experience, such as roofing, siding, or other construction industry work. Comfort working in an industrial or manufacturing environment with repetitive tasks. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly throughout the day. Ability to stand on your feet for 8-10 hours per shift. Ability to get up and down from a waist-high table 50-100 times per day. Experience working with hand and power tools, including hammers, nail guns, and similar equipment. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Comfort working in a hot, dusty wood shop environment. Strong attention to detail to ensure trusses are assembled accurately according to specifications. Reliability and consistency in following instructions and meeting production expectations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in roofing, siding, or general construction is highly beneficial. Experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly line environments. Agricultural or farm work experience, demonstrating comfort with physical labor and outdoor-style conditions. Experience working with trusses, concrete, drywall, shipboard, or similar construction materials. Familiarity with forklifts, loading, and unloading processes in an industrial setting. General labor experience involving manual labour and the use of hand and power tools. Comfort working in a small team environment and contributing to shared production goals. Why Work Here? You will join a small, supportive team in a hands-on role that allows you to develop and refine your skills in truss building and construction. The position offers opportunities to grow your experience over time, including the potential for additional overtime hours of 5-10 hours per week. Once you transition to a direct role, you can access benefits that support your long-term stability. You will work in a straightforward, no-nonsense environment where hard work, reliability, and craftsmanship are valued and recognized. Work Environment The role is based in a wood shop within a typical manufacturing environment. The workspace is dusty due to wood cutting and can be hot, with large doors open to accommodate trailers for loading and unloading trusses. While there is not a heavy concentration of machinery, you will work around presses, hand and power tools, and other standard production equipment. Shifts require standing on your feet for 8-10 hours and performing repetitive, physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 70-pound boards and climbing on and off a waist-high table multiple times per day.
