Position Overview:

The Dock Worker at Premier Transportation is responsible for supporting efficient warehouse and dock operations through the safe and effective handling of freight. This role involves material handling equipment to load, unload, move, and stage shipments accurately and efficiently. The position plays a key role in ensuring timely shipping and receiving processes, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting overall operational flow in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Handling:

Safely operate RF scanners and other material handling equipment to load, unload, move, stack, stage, and organize freight, raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse or yard.

Shipping & Receiving:

Assist with loading and unloading trucks, verify shipments and materials, and ensure freight is accurately placed in designated storage or staging areas to support timely shipping and receiving operations.

Inventory Management:

Maintain organized and accurate inventory by properly stacking, labeling, and storing materials; assist with cycle counts, inventory checks, order picking, and packing; and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to supervisors.

Equipment Inspection & Safety:

Conduct daily inspections of equipment, complete required checklists, report mechanical issues, and operate equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and proper material handling procedures.

Warehouse Organization & Housekeeping:

Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas, aisles, storage locations, and dock areas to minimize product damage and support efficient warehouse operations.

Documentation:

Accurately complete required equipment logs, inspection checklists, inventory records, and material movement or shipping documentation.

Teamwork & Workflow Support:

Work closely with warehouse supervisors and other team members to maintain efficient workflow, prioritize daily assignments, and support overall warehouse and dock operations. Requirements Position Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous warehouse, dock, shipping/receiving, or material-handling experience required. Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other material-handling equipment. Ability to safely load, unload, move, stack, and stage freight in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Ability to accurately verify shipments, read labels, and maintain inventory and material movement records. Basic computer skills, including the ability to use RF scanners and other warehouse technology. Ability to complete required equipment inspections, checklists, logs, and other documentation accurately. Ability to identify and report damaged freight, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, and safety concerns. Knowledge of or ability to learn OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and proper material-handling procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain inventory accuracy. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, drivers, and other warehouse personnel. Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse/dock environment and safely perform required material-handling duties. Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Must be willing to work the assigned schedule, including weekends, holidays, overtime, or varying shifts as business needs require. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb in the course of performing job duties. Ability to lift, carry, and move freight and materials weighing up to 50 lbs Ability to work around moving equipment, trucks, loading docks, and varying warehouse conditions. $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
