Material Handler/Machine Operator Salary:

None General Statement of Duties:
The Level 1 Material Handler supports daily production and warehouse operations by safely operating equipment, preparing materials, maintaining work areas, and ensuring products meet quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, basic machine operation skills, and the ability to follow established procedures. With any and all duties as assigned. The Level II Material Handler / Operator performs all duties of a Level I Material Handler while operating advanced production equipment, supporting manufacturing processes, and ensuring safe, efficient workflow. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to run pneumatic and powered equipment, and the capability to open and prepare the shop for operation. The Level III Intermediate Operator performs all duties of Level I and Level II Material Handlers/Operators while operating advanced saw equipment, performing precision cutting tasks, and providing leadership to small teams. This role requires strong mechanical ability, problem solving skills, and the capability to manage workflow, safety, and production goals. The Level IV Lead Operator is the highest non-management production role, responsible for all duties of Levels I-III plus leadership over production operations. This position oversees workflow, manages crew members, operates advanced saw and material handling equipment, ensures safety compliance, and maintains production efficiency. The Lead Operator is trusted to work independently, make decisions, troubleshoot equipment, and uphold quality and safety standards across the entire shift. Essential Duties Must be certified by the Trades Instructor to operate all saws, nail guns, bottle labeler, and other production equipment. Measure materials accurately using a tape measure Verify measurements and cuts before assembly Open the shop at start of shift Ensure work areas are safe, clean, and properly staged Perform basic pre-operation checks on machinery Report any issues preventing safe startup Power up equipment and verify readiness Cutting boards to length using stops for measurements Re-sawing boards to width/thickness Place boards into a jig; nail boards together using nail gun Accurately measure and mix liquids. Maintain strict adherence to quality standards Inspect materials before and after processing Accurately weigh pallets. Remove waste to dumpster Follow all safety procedures and protocols. Report defects, hazards, or equipment issues immediately Maintain clean, organized work areas
Nonessential Duties:
  • Operate Cash Register

  • Operate woodworking equipment under supervision
  • Assist with safety inspections
  • perform other related work as required
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
  • Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions
  • Effectively communicate
  • Possess basic mathematical skills: must be able to count to 50
  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
  • Follow production pace set by other workers
  • Work effectively with Supervisor and coworkers
Required Physical Activities:
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time
  • May involve some repetitive motions
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include heat, humidity and cold
Driving Requirements:
must have current, valid driver's license and/or dependable transportation/ride

Experience and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. No prior experience necessary. Training will be provided.
Job Type:
Part-time Pay:
$7.25 - $12.00 per hour
