Warehouse Facility Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Warehouse Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all warehouse facility equipment and mechanical systems. This role involves performing routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting unexpected equipment breakdowns, and conducting repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and service on warehouse equipment. Assist with any other maintenance-related tasks as needed.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and other malfunctions. Repair or replace defective components as needed. Identify and address potential risks within the facility. Knowledgeable in locating and identifying emergency shut off locations for electric, water, and gas. Familiar with operation of alarm systems, smoke sprinklers, and door alarms.
Facility Upkeep:
Assist with general building maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical repairs, structural upkeep, etc.
Documentation & Logging:
Maintain accurate, organized records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts inventories, and safety inspections.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Vendor Collaboration:
Manage work orders for container and compactor services. Coordinate with external contractors or specialized service technicians for repairs. Qualifications and Skills Experience in industrial maintenance, facility upkeep, or a mechanical trade, preferably within a distribution center or logistics environment. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with a strong aptitude and willingness to learn additional proprietary software. Exceptional troubleshooting capabilities with a detail-oriented mindset. Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting equipment status and communicating with vendors/contractors. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Forklift certification is a plus. Must have own transportation to travel between facilities in Secaucus and East Rutherford. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during a standard shift. Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry mechanical parts or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently. Comfort working at heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, or motorized personnel lifts when necessary.
