UPS is seeking candidates for a unique role in the Port Angeles, WA area. This position primarily supports our Preload team in the morning and also provides the possibility of additional work as a utility driver during driver vacations or periods of increased volume. This position may require completion of the union seniority process. Candidates not yet meeting this requirement may be hired with the understanding that the 70 working-day seniority process must be successfully completed prior to assignment of Utility work duties.
Preloader:
Work up to 5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis
Ability to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
Ability to bend, squat, stand, walk, step/up down and turn/pivot for entire work shift
Lift/lower/carry packages at rates of 200 to 400 packages per hour
Continuously lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds and assist in moving packages weighing up to 150 pounds
Grasp and control movement of packages
Perform tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, use of a computer or other data device, including hand-held scanners and the Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD)
Read label information
Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Utility Driver:
Meet all of the applicable requirements as specified by the D.O.T.
Bend, stoop, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, walk, and turn/pivot for up to 5.0 hours days per day, 5 days per week
Ability to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds
Assist in moving packages weighing up to 150 pounds
Lift packages to heights above the shoulder and lower to foot level as appropriate
21 Years of age and possess a valid driver's license and ability to drive vehicles with standard transmission safely
Reach, grasp, and maintain control of items and materials used to perform activities associated with delivering and picking up packages including operation of the Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD) and the DIAD Vehicle Adapter (DVA)
Have sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Maintain an acceptable work pace
Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis Work in an environment with:

enclosed work areas
outside inclement weather
