JOB SUMMARY
Recycling Coordinator / Solid Waste Inspector Plans, manages, and enforces recycling and solid waste programs, including grants administration, public education, and field inspections for compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Grant Management:
Prepare, submit, and report on recycling and solid waste grants to ensure compliance and funding continuity.
Program Coordination:
Manage daily operations of the Recycling Center and remote collection sites.
Public Education:
Develop and distribute recycling outreach materials and respond to public inquiries.
Contract and Vendor Oversight:
Coordinate with recycling contractors to ensure service efficiency and compliance.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Maintain and analyze recycling and waste collection data for performance tracking and reporting.
Staff Scheduling and Oversight:
Schedule and supervise part-time employees at the Recycling Center and related facilities.
Field Inspections:
Conduct solid waste and tall grass ordinance inspections and document findings.
Public Relations:
Represent the County at community recycling events and regional meetings.
Budget Assistance:
Assist in budget preparation and expenditure tracking for recycling operations.
Compliance Enforcement:
Investigate and document solid waste ordinance violations; issue notices as required.
Safety and Facility Management:
Ensure recycling center operations follow safety and environmental standards.
Documentation:
Download photos, complete entries in permitting/insepcdtion software, and prepare detailed reports of findings and corrective actions.
Public Contact:
Respond to inquiries and complaints from citizens, businesses, and developers regarding code interpretation and violations. The individual in this role is expected to contribute to the team's efforts by completing other related tasks, as may be assigned.
