The City of Oshkosh is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Works Sanitation & Recycling Manager to lead the City's Sanitation Division. This key leadership role is responsible for managing and coordinating daily operations related to the collection, disposal, and processing of solid waste and recyclable materials. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to independently solve problems in a fast-paced public works environment. This position typically works first shift; however, weekend and holiday hours may be required based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Managing daily operations of the Sanitation Division Overseeing administrative and planning functions for sanitation and recycling services Supervising and developing personnel within the division Providing statistical data, reporting, and analysis to support operational decisions Supporting safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery of sanitation and recycling services
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in business, public administration, waste management, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred At least three (3) years of experience with progressively advanced responsibilities within a waste management operation may be considered in lieu of a degree At least three (3) years of supervisory experience within a waste management operation Possession of and ability to maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation The City of Oshkosh offers a competitive benefits package and an outstanding work environment, including a generous paid time off plan, participation in a stable state pension plan with employer match, and access to a no-cost clinic for employees enrolled in the City's health insurance plan.
