Job Description

Job Overview Congaree Golf Club is seeking a full-time Wildlife Maintenance Technician to join our team. Located 35-45 minutes from Bluffton, Beaufort, and Savannah, Congaree spans more than 2,000 pristine acres and is recognized for its championship golf course, private lodging, exceptional sporting opportunities, and commitment to land stewardship and wildlife conservation. This year-round position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working outdoors and has experience maintaining wildlife habitats, operating heavy equipment, and caring for large rural properties. The Wildlife Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing Congaree's natural resources while supporting hunting operations and the overall upkeep of the property. Candidates must be dependable, safety-conscious, team-oriented, and willing to work occasional weekends and holidays during hunting seasons. Congaree Golf Club is a drug-free workplace and an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities Maintain and improve wildlife habitat throughout the property. Plant, cultivate, and maintain seasonal wildlife food plots. Support the club's early-release quail program, including habitat preparation and maintenance. Maintain fire breaks, roads, trails, bridges, fencing, and access routes throughout the property. Assist with prescribed (controlled) burns to improve wildlife habitat and timber management. Operate and maintain tractors, skid steers, backhoes, UTVs, mowers, sprayers, chainsaws, and other land management equipment. Perform invasive vegetation control and assist with native habitat restoration projects. Assist with timber stand improvement and general forest management activities. Monitor wildlife habitats and report maintenance or environmental concerns. Assist with the setup, maintenance, and cleanup of hunting operations for quail, deer, turkey, and wild boar hunts. Maintain hunting blinds, feeders, equipment, dog kennels, and related infrastructure. Perform fence repairs and other general property maintenance as needed. Complete light building and facility maintenance supporting wildlife operations. Assist with equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor mechanical repairs. Support special projects and conservation initiatives as assigned. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Qualifications & Skills Experience in wildlife habitat management, land management, agriculture, forestry, hunting preserves, or a related field preferred. Experience operating tractors and other heavy equipment. Knowledge of food plot establishment, prescribed burning, invasive species management, or wildlife conservation practices is preferred. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance. Ability to safely operate chainsaws, sprayers, mowers, and other outdoor equipment. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and work in wooded, wetland, and field environments. Ability to operate equipment safely and perform physically demanding work. Availability to work occasional weekends, holidays, and extended hours during hunting seasons or prescribed burn operations.

From $18.00 per hour
