Twin Cities Metro White Bear Center for the Arts seeks passionate Teaching Artists to provide engaging, inclusive, and enriching art experiences for youth. We welcome artists working in a wide range of mediums and disciplines. Teaching opportunities may include summer camps, youth classes and workshops at WBCA, school-based programs, and programs offered in partnership with community organizations throughout the Twin Cities metro. Teaching Artists work as independent contractors, with opportunities varying based on programming needs and may be seasonal, one-time, or recurring throughout the year.
Class Details:
Individual classes range from 1-3 hours per session Programs may serve youth in grades K-8 Teaching Artists propose original class ideas and curriculum
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging art experiences tailored to the needs and interests of youth Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression Adapt instruction to accommodate different ages, learning styles, abilities, and experience levels Prepare and manage art materials and supplies Follow WBCA and partner-site expectations for working safely and appropriately with youth
Requirements:
Comfortable working with children and providing age-appropriate instruction Previous teaching experience in an arts or educational setting Ability to travel to WBCA and/or off-site program locations Ability to manage materials, preparation, and classroom setup Ability to complete a background check as required for youth programming
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or significant experience in the arts or a related field
Experience teaching across multiple grade levels
Ability to adapt curriculum for different ages and settings
Comfortable connecting art to history, culture, literature, school themes, or other areas of interest
