Poughkeepsie, NY About Dogwood Entertainment Dogwood Entertainment is a creative fabrication studio specializing in large-scale props, immersive environments, themed displays, and seasonal attractions for entertainment venues and public spaces nationwide. Our artists, designers, and fabricators bring imaginative concepts to life through sculpture, painting, carving, digital fabrication, scenic finishing, and hands-on craftsmanship. Position Overview Dogwood Entertainment is seeking talented artists and makers to join our production team immediately for a busy seasonal build period. We are looking for individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas: Sculpting Painting Scenic painting and finishing Foam carving Prop making 3D printing and digital fabrication Mold making and casting Theatrical or scenic fabrication Mixed-media art and specialty finishes General artistic fabrication and assembly These are initially part-time, seasonal positions , with the possibility of continued or expanded employment for team members who are a strong fit and whose skills align with our ongoing production needs. Key Responsibilities Fabricate, sculpt, carve, paint, finish, assemble, and detail custom scenic pieces and large-scale props. Work from sketches, renderings, reference images, models, and verbal direction. Collaborate with artists, designers, fabricators, and production staff to complete projects on schedule. Maintain consistency, quality, and design integrity across finished pieces. Safely use appropriate hand tools, power tools, materials, and shop equipment. Assist with surface preparation, painting, finishing, repairs, and final detailing. Communicate clearly about progress, material needs, and production challenges. Maintain an organized, safe, and productive workspace. Shift between projects and artistic disciplines as production priorities change. Assist with packing, loading, installation, or off-site work when needed. Qualifications Experience in visual art, sculpture (especially working with foam), scenic fabrication, theatrical production, prop making, painting, carving, 3D printing, or a related field. Strong hands-on artistic and fabrication skills. Ability to follow creative direction while also solving problems independently. Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Dependability, professionalism, and a collaborative attitude. Familiarity with shop safety and common fabrication tools is preferred. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move production materials. Flexibility to work additional hours, evenings, weekends, or overtime during peak deadlines. Willingness to occasionally assist with deliveries, installations, or travel is a plus. Professional experience is helpful, but we are also open to reviewing portfolios from talented emerging artists, theatre technicians, makers, art students, and self-taught fabricators with strong hands-on skills.
