$23.00-$30.00 per hour We are seeking an experienced AV Technician to join a leading global technology solutions provider in Tempe, AZ. This is a full-time opportunity for a hands-on technician with experience installing, servicing, testing and troubleshooting commercial audio visual and low-voltage systems . Working under the direction of a Lead Technician, the AV Technician will install and integrate professional audio, video and control systems in commercial environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Extron, Bogen, Cisco, DSP systems, AV-over-IP, structured cabling, rack fabrication and commercial AV installation . What You'll Do Install, service, test and troubleshoot commercial audio visual systems, including Bogen, Cisco, Extron and related technologies . Install projectors and screens, flat-panel displays, speakers, cameras, microphones and other professional AV equipment. Perform wall and ceiling mounting, structural mounting and rigging. Build and install equipment racks, backboards, patch panels, connecting blocks, fiber enclosures and associated hardware. Perform rack fabrication and equipment staging. Install and terminate Category 5/5e, Category 6, fiber optic, coax and other structured cabling systems . Pull, organize, dress, label and terminate cabling according to industry standards. Install outlets and perform fire stopping and pre-termination work. Load and test code for control and DSP systems. Upload and download Extron control programs and make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer. Install and troubleshoot sound reinforcement, paging, public address, background music, commercial intercom and DSP systems. Assist with AV system testing, troubleshooting and commissioning. Install grounding infrastructure and perform grounding tests. Perform copper and fiber cable splicing and identify active circuits. Use electronic test equipment including multimeters, voltmeters, ohm meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and impedance meters. Work in both retrofit and new-construction environments and assist with system cutovers. Work independently or as part of a team to complete commercial AV installation and service projects. Serve as a customer liaison at the job site when the Project Manager is unavailable. Provide basic client training as needed. Complete required job-site documentation and daily paperwork. Mentor Level I and Level II technicians as needed. Follow applicable ANSI, EIA/TIA, National Electrical Code and company safety standards. What We're Looking For High school diploma or Technical Trade School diploma. 3+ years of experience in commercial AV, communications infrastructure and/or low-voltage installation. Experience working with fiber, copper, coax and structured cabling . Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting commercial AV systems. Knowledge of professional audio systems, including sound reinforcement, paging, public address, background music, commercial intercom, DSP, system balancing and gain structure. Knowledge of professional video systems, projector technologies, video formats and presentation systems. Familiarity with AV-over-IP / Video-over-IP technologies , or the ability to quickly learn converged AV/network technologies. Experience with equipment racks, structured cabling and AV system integration. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of an installation team. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Training & Certifications One or more of the following is preferred: AVIXA/InfoComm CTS or CTS-I Extron AV Associate Certification Extron Control System Certification Bogen Nyquist IP Intercom Certification Bogen Quantum Certification BSS DSP Certification Cisco CCNA InfoComm/AVIXA Quick Start to the Audiovisual Industry OSHA 10-Hour Construction Additional Requirements Ability to work extended hours and overtime when needed. Availability for occasional night and weekend work. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation when required. Ability to follow established job-site and company safety procedures. Willingness to learn new technologies and perform additional AV-related tasks as needed.
