POSITION SUMMARY
The Audio Visual (AV) Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio visual equipment used for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, and special events throughout the property. This position works closely with the F+B, Events, Banquets, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure all AV equipment is properly prepared, functioning, and delivered according to the needs of our guests and clients.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Set up, operate, and dismantle audio visual equipment for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, and special events. Prepare microphones, speakers, mixers, projectors, screens, televisions, lighting equipment, and other AV systems. Connect and test all equipment before events to ensure proper operation. Review event requirements and ensure all AV needs are prepared according to event orders and client specifications. Assist with room setups, stages, presentations, and other event production needs. Operate AV equipment during live events, including sound systems, microphones, presentations, and lighting. Provide technical support before, during, and after events. Troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, and presentation equipment. Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions to events. Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of AV equipment. Maintain an organized inventory of equipment, cables, accessories, and supplies. Ensure all equipment is stored properly, maintained, and ready for future events. Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to management. Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and improvements assigned. Work closely with the Events and Banquets teams to understand and meet AV requirements. Communicate effectively with clients and hotel leadership regarding event needs and technical concerns. Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in audio visual production, live sound, event production, hotel AV, or a related field preferred. Basic knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and presentation equipment. Ability to troubleshoot common AV and technical issues. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in a fast-paced event environment. Dependable, professional, and committed to providing exceptional hospitality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift, carry, and move AV equipment and supplies. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work in various event spaces. Ability to work in meeting rooms, ballrooms, banquet spaces, outdoor events, and other venues. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
