Travel AV / Low-Voltage Technician (Access Control, CCTV & Alarm Systems) Childress Solutions is hiring an experienced Travel AV / Low Voltage Technician for commercial and industrial projects throughout Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia. AV experience and knowledge is highly necessary for this position. This is a hands-on field role. The Travel Technician will assist with installation, programming, troubleshooting, and service of AV, access control, CCTV/IP video, intrusion alarms, fiber, low-voltage cabling, and related security systems . Responsibilities Install and service AV, access control, CCTV, intrusion, fiber, and low-voltage systems Pull, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot structured cabling Install and service cameras, card readers, door hardware, control panels, NVRs, alarm devices, and related equipment Program, test, commission, and troubleshoot systems Diagnose system issues and perform repairs as needed Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Coordinate jobsite tasks and ensure work is completed according to project requirements Maintain high standards for workmanship, quality, safety, and jobsite documentation Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, customers, and other jobsite personnel Maintain accurate documentation of installations, testing, service work, and completed tasks Travel to various job locations as required Required Experience Strong AV knowledge and hands-on experience — highly required Relevant security/low-voltage experience is required Experience with access control, CCTV/IP video, and intrusion systems Ability to program and troubleshoot systems, not just install hardware Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring and structured cabling Previous professional experience as an AV, low-voltage, security, access control, or related technician Professional communication skills when working with clients, contractors, and project managers Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively Ability to work on jobsites and perform the physical requirements associated with installation and service work Preferred Experience Fiber installation and testing Networking fundamentals Commercial construction environments Platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Brivo, OpenPath, Verkada, Honeywell, Bosch, or DSC AV Systems Travel Requirements This is a travel-intensive position. Candidates must be comfortable traveling up to 80% of the time. Travel will be required to various job locations, potentially including extended stays away from home.
