$25 / 8-hour day Position Overview The Utility I

• Parab Operator supports the audio department during the live college football broadcast by operating a parabolic microphone ("parab") to capture background and ambient audio from the stadium.

The parab is a small satellite-dish-shaped microphone weighing approximately 15-20 lbs. The operator will wear a headset and remain in direct communication with the audio engineers throughout the event. The audio department will provide direction on where to point the parab to capture specific game and crowd sounds. This is an entry-level broadcast utility position, but the ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a live sports environment, following real-time instructions, and safely handling the equipment for extended periods. Responsibilities

• Operate a parabolic microphone to capture background, crowd, and game audio.
• Wear a headset and maintain clear, continuous communication with the audio department.
• Follow direction from audio engineers regarding where and when to point the parab.
• Track live game action and adjust the microphone position as directed.
• Safely carry, position, and operate the approximately 15-20 lb parabolic microphone.
• Remain attentive and responsive throughout the live broadcast.
• Work cooperatively with audio personnel, camera operators, and other production crew.
• Follow all venue and production safety procedures.
• Assist with other reasonable audio or production-support duties as assigned. Requirements
• Comfortable operating handheld equipment weighing approximately 15-20 lbs for extended periods.
• Ability to follow real-time instructions while working in a fast-paced live sports environment.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Comfortable wearing a headset and communicating with audio engineers during the event.
• Able to remain focused and attentive throughout the broadcast.
• Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a production team.
• Prior broadcast, live sports, audio, or production experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation $20 / 8-hour day
