We have tackled some of the hardest problems facing industries including transportation, construction, municipal maintenance, and safety. Our most popular product is a sewer inspection robot that provides video footage and other instrumental data within sewer and storm pipelines. We are committed to providing highly reliable, industry-leading solutions that solve real problems, improve productivity and efficiency, and challenge the way we think about the future. We are looking for highly skilled and incredibly motivated individuals with a thirst to tackle the toughest challenges. About the Role Edge AI is seeking a Production Technician to build, maintain, and repair the hardware that keeps our robots working in the field. At the heart of this role are the fiber optic tethers that connect to our robots — assembling, repairing, assessing, and maintaining these tethers is the core of the job and where you will spend the majority of your time. Fiber optic tethers are precise, mission-critical components, so careful and reliable work here is what makes the position matter. Alongside the tethers, you will apply that same standard of care to other small pieces of equipment — assembling, testing, and repairing them — while keeping your workstation organized and staying on top of your tasks. These supporting duties are an important part of the day, but the fiber optic tethers remain the primary focus of the role. Experience with fiber optics is a strong plus and highly encouraged, but it is not required — we are glad to train the right person. What is essential is hands-on mechanical ability: you should be comfortable working with tools and equipment, whether small and delicate or large, and confident building and repairing things with your hands.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
Fiber Optic Tether Production & Maintenance — Primary Responsibility Assembling fiber optic tethers that connect to our robots, built to spec with careful attention to detail Repairing, troubleshooting, and reworking tethers to keep them in reliable working condition Assessing and testing tethers to catch wear, damage, or faults before they reach the field Tracking the condition and history of tethers across their service life Equipment Assembly & Repair Assembling, testing, and repairing other small pieces of equipment as needed Applying the same standard of care and reliability to every piece of hardware you handle Workstation & Task Management Keeping your workstation clean, organized, and safe Tracking your tasks and progress so work stays visible and nothing slips through the cracks Managing tools, parts, and supplies so they are on hand when needed Quality & Reliability Following procedures and quality standards so every piece leaves in dependable condition Flagging recurring issues and suggesting improvements to how we build and maintain our hardware Qualifications & Experience for Success Hands-on mechanical experience working with tools and equipment, whether small and delicate or large (required) Comfort assembling, repairing, and troubleshooting hardware by hand Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach to precise work Reliability and a strong work ethic Ability to keep an organized workstation and track tasks accurately Experience with fiber optics highly encouraged, but not required High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade training, or post-secondary education (bachelor's, master's, or beyond), is a plus
