Workstudy - Athletics Faulkner Sports Network

Job Description

The Work-Study student for the Faulkner Sports Network supports staff members through assistance with the presentation, operation, documentation, and promotion of Faulkner University athletic events. Work-Study students may serve in one or more areas depending on experience, interest, and event needs. The position is designed to provide practical experience in collegiate athletics while helping deliver a professional game-day and media experience for stduent-athletes, coaches, fans, and viewers.
Responsibilities:
Statistics Serve as an in-game statistician for assigned sports using approved statistical software and procedures Work as a spotter, caller, recorder, or in other statistics-table support roles Assist as an official scorer when assigned, following sport-specific rules and department procedures Verify accuracy of game statistics, scores, substitutions, and other official information Maintain focus and professionalism in fast-paced game environments where accuracy is essential Broadcast Assist with live Faulkner Sports Network broadcasts and streaming productions Serve as a producer, camera operator, on-air commentator, or production support staff member as assigned Help set up, test, operate, and break down broadcast equipment before or after events Monitor audio, video, graphics, score information, and other elements of the live production Support announcers and production staff with rosters, notes, statistics, and other game information Game Day Operations Assist with ticketing and guest entry procedures Support parking operations and direct guests as needed Operate or assist with scoreboards, game clocks, and related in-venue systems when trained and assigned Provide hospitality support for game officials, visiting teams, media, special guests, and other event personnel Assist with in-house music, announcements, and other elements of the fan experience Help with event setup, in-game troubleshooting, and post-event breakdown as directed Content Development Capture event and behind-the-scenes photography when assigned Assist with writing game recaps, previews, feature stories, and other athletics content Create, gather, or organize social media content for Faulkner Athletics platforms Support podcast production, including recording setup, research, editing support, and distribution preparation Help collect accurate quotes, statistics, photos, video clips, and other materials for postgame and promotional use
Qualifications:
Must be eligible for the Faulkner University Work-Study Program If you are unsure if you qualify, you can check your eligibility with the Financial Aid office in the Rotunda at 130 B Dependable, organized, attentive to detail, and able to work independently when necessary Interested in sports, broadcasting, communications, photography, statistics, event management, social media, or related fields Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in a live-event environment Basic computer and technology skills; prior experience with cameras, statistics software, audio/video production, graphic tools, or social platforms, preferred Willingness to receive training and accept feedback
