Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Depot Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our Depot Railroad Museum in small town Salem, Indiana. The ideal candidate will be an individual who is personable, flexible, friendly, and not afraid of dealing with the public. This is a position that would handle tours at the Depot Railroad Museum, managing the gift shop, event rentals, and general organization of upkeep of the site. The individual must be collaborative and communicative, and passionate about history! Duties Welcoming and assisting museum guests Answering phone calls & responding to voicemails and emails Maintaining daily reports of income and expenses Managing The Depot Gift Shop Creating and monitoring social media posts Collaborating with JHC staff, volunteers, & board members Work special events (annual festival, concerts, etc.) Schedule & manage Depot rentals Maintain supply inventory Light custodial duties Completing other tasks assigned by the WCHS Board of Directors Requirements Ability to engage & communicate with the general public Exceptional critical thinking & analysis skills Ability to recruit, develop, and manage volunteers Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in public speaking, & writing Experience with donor stewardship, fundraising, & grant processes Ability to develop & maintain relationships with other community & local government organizations Basic knowledge of trains, train history, and the Monon is a plus, but not required This position is currently available for Thursday through Saturdays from 10AM to 5PM, with additional hours available through rentals and events.
