Job Description

A SolidWorks/CAD Designer and Fabricator Creates 3D digital models and technical blueprints using SolidWorks/CAD software and then assists in the physical production of those metal parts, weldments, and mechanical assemblies used in the field of wastewater processing. Job Summary The dual role bridges engineering and hands-on manufacturing to assist a team of 5-7 welding & fabrication technicians. You will turn concepts into accurate 3D assemblies, generate 2D shop drawings for production, and use your fabrication skills to assist in building, testing, or troubleshooting the final physical product.
Key Responsibilities Design & Modeling:
Create detailed 3D part models, complex assemblies, and production-ready 2D drawings using SolidWorks or similar software.
Fabrication Support:
Translate digital designs into physical products by cutting, bending sheet metal, operating shop tools, and assembling or welding components. Welding skills are not required.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate files, including part numbers, and revision controls within company systems.
Quality Control:
Verify component dimensions, fit, form, and function before and after manufacturing.
Collaboration:
Work alongside managers, engineers, and shop personnel to solve fit-up issues and improve component quality and production efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills Software:
Proficiency in SolidWorks/CAD (3D modeling, weldments, sheet metal modules, and 2D detailing).
Fabrication Experience:
Hands-on shop experience with MIG/TIG welding, plasma cutting, or standard manual machine tools is preferred but not necessary. Some experience in building/ fabrication is needed.
Technical Knowledge:
Ability to read complex engineering schematics, blueprints, and weld symbols. This is an on-site position in Asheville, NC.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
