Vice President of Technical Services About J.Hilburn J.Hilburn is a luxury menswear brand dedicated to delivering exceptional fit, premium quality, and personalized client experiences. We are seeking a Technical Designer to join our Product team and play a key role in supporting the development, execution, and maintenance of fit standards across our apparel assortment. This position partners closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and factory partners to ensure garments consistently meet brand standards for fit, construction, quality, and performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about apparel construction, fit development, garment engineering, and continuous product improvement. What You'll Do Technical Design & Fit Development Execute and maintain fit standards across multiple apparel categories Support the development and maintenance of pattern libraries, fit blocks, and technical standards Manage technical garment development from prototype through production Review and approve samples for fit, construction, measurements, and quality standards Participate in fit sessions and provide clear, actionable feedback to internal and external partners Ensure adherence to grading rules, measurement specifications, and pattern integrity Partner with factory teams to troubleshoot fit and construction challenges Analyze customer and stylist feedback to identify fit opportunities and drive continuous improvement Product Quality & Garment Construction Ensure products meet J.Hilburn standards for quality, performance, and wearability Provide recommendations regarding garment construction, sewing methods, and fabric compatibility Identify potential quality concerns early in the development process Collaborate with factory and manufacturing partners to maintain execution standards Support product improvements through technical expertise and problem-solving Documentation & Process Improvement Create and maintain technical packages, fit documentation, SOPs, and reference materials Support the development of training and educational resources for internal teams and field partners Ensure technical specifications and fit expectations are clearly communicated across stakeholders Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and Technology teams Communicate technical requirements effectively to both internal and external partners Support the alignment of technical execution with brand objectives and customer expectations Act as a trusted technical resource throughout the product lifecycle Digital Tools & Innovation Support the integration of fit and product data into digital systems and workflows Provide input on tools and technologies that improve fit accuracy and technical processes Collaborate on initiatives involving digital product creation and 3D apparel development Help identify opportunities to enhance technical design capabilities across the organization
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field 3-5+ years of Technical Design experience within an apparel company or corporate fashion environment Experience supporting fit development and garment construction across multiple apparel categories Strong understanding of patternmaking principles, grading, garment construction, and fit analysis Ability to evaluate garments for quality, fit, functionality, and construction integrity Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Experience working directly with factories, vendors, and product development teams Preferred Qualifications Patternmaking experience Experience with CAD pattern systems and technical design software Exposure to 3D apparel development tools such as CLO, Browzwear, TUKAtech, or similar platforms Experience maintaining fit standards and technical documentation Experience with luxury, premium, tailored, or menswear apparel products What Makes You Successful Passion for apparel, fit, garment construction, and product excellence Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and ownership Curious, solutions-oriented mindset with a desire to continuously improve products and processes Ability to balance technical precision with business objectives
