The Dogwood Tree is a woman-owned full service florist, specializing in daily deliveries, funeral work, and corporate events based in Charlottesville, Va. We have been delivering local blooms to the Central Virginia community since 2020, earning the title of Best of Cville Flower-Shop Runner-Up 2025 and Next Door Top Flower Shop 2025. Our company is also a new member of The Society of American Florists. We are seeking a creative, driven, and friendly person to join our team in a fast paced and fun work environment. We pride ourselves on being hard-working, flexible, and passionate. The duties of this position may include but are not limited to:
Front of House:
Greeting clients in store and answering phones with a cheery disposition and knowledgable attitude. Sales driven mindset and personable customer interactions are the name of the game!
Order taking/Money handling: Must be able to navigate online POS systems with confidence, complete transactions with customers from start to finish, and relay orders to team in a timely and appropriate manner.
Floral Design:
As the heart of our business, a love and desire to design is integral for all members of our team. Basic knowledge of flowers and visual design preferred. Previous experience is not necessary, but is encouraged. We cross train all of our employees to ensure customer satisfaction.
Delivering:
Delivery is accomplished with the use of personal vehicles. Basic understanding of GPS navigational systems and comfortability with driving are necessary.
Cleaning:
Sweeping, mopping, cleaning buckets/vases using bleach, breaking down cardboard, etc. Organizational skills are imparative in all aspects of the shop.
Event set up/break down: This includes both weddings/events and markets/festivals.
Events require professionalism, punctuality, and lots of energy. Must be comfortable working with other vendors and the general public. Must have flexible hours, including early mornings and late nights. This position is best suited for someone who thrives in artistic, hands-on, and cooperative setting, and performs well within time constraints and high pressure situations.
All successful candidates will:
be 18 years old or older.
be a US citizen.
have a valid driver's license in good standing.
have relaible, personal transportation.
be available for approximately 20-30 hours during the week, including rotating Saturdays and a occasional Sunday event.
be able to stand for long periods of time, >4 hours.
