By building and preserving affordable housing through new construction, renovations, and home repairs, Habitat LA is transforming communities throughout Los Angeles County. Through access to affordable loans, housing counseling, down-payment assistance, skilled construction training, financial education, and volunteer opportunities, the organization has strengthened families, helped stabilize communities, and fostered economic vitality in the region. On average, the affiliate builds and renovates 100 homes in the Los Angeles region each year, ranking it among the largest affiliates nationwide.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a Graphic Designer to bring Habitat LA's mission to life through compelling visual design. This role supports the Marketing & Communications team by creating high-quality, on-brand assets that drive engagement, support fundraising, and strengthen brand consistency across all channels. This designer will assist the design lead / creative director, and support with all assigned projects. This designer must be a team player, being proactive in brainstorms and be able to receive constructive criticism as well as offer informed feedback when asked. Candidate must be proactive in getting clear instructions to proceed, if necessary. The Marketing & Communications team functions as an in-house agency for the entire Habitat affiliate. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design on brand collateral and creative assets for printed flyers, social media, email, t shirts, and web graphics, event signage newsletter, and fundraising. Refresh and/or update old collateral. Expand a determined look and feel into a set of collateral for teams use. i.e Email, signatures, web banners, flyers, etc. Communicating with and receiving prioritized direction from Associate Director; tackling multiple smaller design requests and making revisions on projects that are requested from the borader team. Cross collaboration with other team members to reach a shared goal. Reaching out with questions or suggestions for clarification if necessary. Following up on older projects Staying on top of design and color trends by doing research, helping to develp new concepts, and look/feel directions for the affiliates signature events and fundraisers Attending one on one meetings with Associate Director and team status meetings twice a week for status update meetings. Participating in brainstorms and provide educated design feedback. Maintatining organizaed file structures and share assets as needed with the entire team.
SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, background check, and driving record check Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA Driver's License, and meet the state-required amount of personal automobile liability insuranc Must have a reliable internet connection Minimum of two years of professional graphic design experience. Strong portfolio demonstrating print and digital design, typography, layout, branding, and visual storytelling. A portfolio link must be included with the application. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, follow brand guidelines, and respond effectively to feedback. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and attention to detail. Experience with motion graphics, video editing, animation, illustration, social media content, or Spanish fluency is a plus.
