"The Graphic Designer who does Prepress and Marketing" Reports to:

Production Manager and President Mission:

To design customer projects from scratch and pre-flight customer-supplied files for accuracy so they are ready for production and look great! And to learn how to impose, plate and print matchprint proofs for offset projects while keeping our marketing up to date. (Whew!)

The Position's Customers:

• A wide range of individuals involved with marketing and managing communications for the educational, non-profit and industrial sectors; the offset pressmen for whom impositions and plates must be ready

Key Relationships:

• Customers with whom you are working closely
• Production Manager & the RG Design Team, the offset pressmen
• All the team members in Randolph and St. Marys, PA Successful Performance is Characterized by:
• Creating pieces that meet and exceed our customers' expectations
• Meeting project deadlines while managing multiple projects at once
• Utilizing AI technology and CS tools to reduce time required to complete a job
• Building long-lasting relationships with customers and understanding their style preferences and needs
• Utilizing the job checklist to be sure the job is ready to move forward with accurate information and job details
• Pre-flighting jobs to be ensure they are production-ready
• Accurate time recording on the job at hand in our FileMaker program
• Balancing the demands of pre-press with design jobs
• Having a solid grasp of how everything RG does fits together so that you design jobs and impose jobs efficiently for the least amount of work for those finishing them down the line
• Striving to be an ideal team player who exhibits a humble spirit, hungry attitude, and smart people skills (from Patrick Lencioni's "The Ideal Team Player") Typical Responsibilities include:
• Talking to customers via email and the telephone
• Designing a project from scratch using text and photos supplied / stock photos
• Pre-flighting jobs that require little or no design, making sure they will print and finish correctly
• Providing proofs to customers for approval
• Archiving files in organized system based on job numbers
• Imposing jobs for the Ryobi and AB Dick offset presses
• Making plates for the offset press jobs
• Keeping track of plate inventory, software updates and platesetter maintenance Knowledge and Skills required:
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, & Illustrator programs
• Basic understanding of print design
• Learning and understanding how to use Preps for imposition in prepress
• Learning and understanding Prinergy for plating and proofing in prepress
• Good writing skills, spelling and grammar
• A good sense of design, typography and style!
