Roles and Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer will coordinate between production, quality, purchasing, and design engineering with configuration management, bid and proposals, new design work, and root cause investigations. Conduct daily stand-up meetings with liaison engineers at remote sites to facilitate Engineering Change Request processing. Help remove barriers, escalate issues, and coordinate support as needed. Responsible of the hiring, onboarding, training, and performance improvement of the project engineering group members. Provide weekly status updates to project teams of resolved issues, outstanding issues, and associated risks. Record and review metrics monthly with management team and recommend improvements. Track reasons for engineering changes, analyze data for trends, and provide corrective actions. Approve deviation requests from production and ensure compliance to requirements. Create Engineering Change Proposals to be submitted to customers for design improvements, value added changes, and obsolescence resolutions. Lead the system design and defining all mission system requirements through the design phase and navigate the solution through to production and implementation. System life-cycle activities

  • including System Requirements Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Detailed/Critical Design Review (DDR/CDR).

Development of engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensuring safe, fit for purpose engineering deliverables, and presenting material associated with the above gate reviews. Document product configuration effectivity on drawings and assignment logs. Coordinate cut in dates with purchasing and production. Plan, monitor, and adjust schedule and resources for new design implementation to meet customer needs. Create and submit recurring customer deliverables as needed. Coordinate the release of Engineering Change Notifications per company policy. Write test plans, perform tests, document results, and train quality personnel to conduct tests. Partner with quality to perform root cause investigations for product non-compliances. Reviews designs of engineers and designers to ensure they are in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, and terms of the contract. Collaborate with engineering to produce system BOMs for CFRs (Condition Found Reports) and other repetitive modifications and discrete orders. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by creating work instructions for best practices for reviewing, metadata inputting, establishing procedures/processes as well as mentoring/training staff. Independent worker who contributes to moderately complex analysis and designs.

Qualifications / Skills

/

Experience:

BS degree preferred in Engineering or similar. Minimum 10 years of project engineering experience for government projects. Familiarity with, and drives, basic system and digital engineering principles. Familiarity with autonomy, automation, and modular open systems architecture concepts and architectures. Automation

  • MS Office, BC Dynamics, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDM, PLM, MRP, point, and Access. Autonomy
  • The ability to work unsupervised efficiently and effectively. Oral & Written Comprehension & Expression
  • Candidate must have excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, conflict management, and critical thinking skills. Boat mechanical and electrical knowledge to include fuel, cooling, steering, navigation, and propulsion systems. Attention to detail and ability to work on complex configurations. Design
  • Experience complying to ASME and ANSI drafting standards.
