Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Wire Harness Design and Release Engineer is responsible for the design and release of wiring harness assemblies and related components. This role involves coordinating drawing creation in both 2D (Capital XC) and 3D (NX via Teamcenter), as well as ensuring proper validation of components in both vehicle and component environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and release wiring harness assemblies and related componentsCreate and manage 2D drawings using Capital XC and 3D models using NX within TeamcenterValidate released components through testing in both vehicle and component-level environmentsSupport manufacturing and supplier facilities throughout the product life cycleManage and resolve design issues identified at the plant or reported by suppliersProcess and implement engineering change requests (ECRs) from manufacturing plants and suppliersManage large volumes of data and incorporate design updates into current and future vehicle programs
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree (Materials, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering) from an ABET-accredited universityMinimum of 5 years of engineering experienceAt least 3 years of experience in transportation wiring design and release, or vehicle electrical systemsExcellent communication skills, including written reports and management-level presentationsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited universityTraining in DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFSS development tools and processesWorking knowledge of CAD systems such as NX and CatiaExperience with Capital XC CAD systemExperience in high-volume manufacturing environments, especially wiring manufacturingFamiliarity with wiring harness drawings and automotive specificationsExperience with web publishing and Point data management
