Position Summary ND Global Consulting Services, Inc. (NDGCS) is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems for automated vehicles and material-handling equipment. The successful candidate will design electrical wiring schematics, harnesses, power panels, automation control panels, and bills of materials. This role requires experience with AutoCAD, industrial automation equipment, power-distribution systems, electrical codes, and controls operating from 12VDC through 480VAC. The engineer will work as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary project team and independently complete moderately complex engineering assignments with limited supervision. Key Responsibilities Design electrical systems for automated vehicles and related equipment. Design wiring harnesses, power panels, automation control panels, and electrical schematics. Create and maintain accurate bills of materials. Process Engineering Change Notices. Review and update redlined drawings to produce accurate as-built documentation. Design, troubleshoot, and debug automation control panels and associated equipment. Design and support electrical power-distribution systems. Work safely with systems ranging from 12VDC through 480VAC. Apply applicable electrical codes and standards to control-panel designs and electrical installations. Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, barcode readers, RFID equipment, photoelectric sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and related automation components. Prepare specifications for purchasing electrical materials and equipment. Develop electrical testing methods to verify finished-product quality and system capabilities. Perform electrical testing of completed products and systems. Support the design of radio-frequency network infrastructure. Contribute to battery and charger system designs. Update technical notes, engineering records, and project documentation. Maintain organized and accurate engineering network folders. Collaborate with engineers, project leaders, manufacturing personnel, and other project stakeholders. Complete moderately complex project assignments with limited direction. Perform other job-related duties assigned by the supervisor or project leader. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. At least three years of experience reading and designing automation control panels and wiring harnesses using AutoCAD. At least three years of experience programming, configuring, or debugging industrial automation equipment and systems. Hands-on experience with PLCs and HMIs. Experience with barcode readers, RFID equipment, photoelectric sensors, ultrasonic sensors, or comparable industrial devices. Strong knowledge of electrical codes applicable to control-panel design and electrical installations. Experience designing or supporting facility and equipment power-distribution systems. Understanding of electrical requirements ranging from 12VDC through 480VAC. Ability to prepare technical specifications for purchasing electrical materials and equipment. Experience designing electrical testing methods and testing completed products or systems. Experience working safely with 120VAC, 48VDC, 24VDC, and 12VDC systems. Familiarity with ISO 9001, National Electrical Code, and UL requirements. Proficiency with current Microsoft Office applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently with limited instructions while contributing effectively to a project team. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing radio-frequency network infrastructure. Knowledge of battery and charger design. Experience using Creo. Experience using Windchill. Experience designing electrical systems for automated guided vehicles, autonomous mobile robots, material-handling equipment, or similar industrial vehicles. Experience working in manufacturing or industrial automation environments. Work Environment This position operates in both a professional office environment and a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. The employee will routinely use computers, phones, engineering software, and standard office equipment and may work near manufacturing and electrical systems.
