Travel:

Up to 25% Position Summary The System Designer / System Designer Associate is responsible for developing, modifying, and documenting mechanical and vehicle-system designs using advanced CAD tools. This position supports engineering and product development activities involving harness and cable routing, component design, system integration, vehicle packaging, and engineering documentation.



The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CATIA V5, with additional experience in Creo and/or Windchill highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable creating and modifying 2D and 3D assemblies, engineering drawings, and production-ready designs, while collaborating closely with engineering and cross-functional teams. Qualifications Candidates may qualify through one of the following combinations: Associate degree + 4 years of relevant engineering/design experience , or Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant engineering/design experience Relevant experience may include mechanical design, vehicle-system design, CAD design, system integration, harness/cable routing, powertrain integration, cooling-system design, or related engineering disciplines. Key Responsibilities Create, modify, and maintain engineering designs using CATIA V5 and other applicable CAD tools. Develop 2D drawings and 3D models/assemblies for mechanical and vehicle-system applications. Perform and support harness and cable routing within vehicle and system environments. Support basic mechanical component design and system integration activities. Develop designs that meet engineering, manufacturing, packaging, and product requirements. Read and interpret engineering schematics, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Apply established CAD standards, engineering specifications, and basic GD&T principles . Support vehicle packaging, system integration, powertrain integration, and/or cooling-system design as applicable. Create, update, and maintain engineering and product documentation. Create or support basic Engineering Change Notices (CNs) and other design-change documentation. Work within product lifecycle management systems such as Windchill . Collaborate with engineers, designers, manufacturing teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to develop accurate, production-ready designs. Identify design issues and assist with developing practical solutions. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the design process. Support engineering projects through design development, documentation, and implementation. Travel up to 25% as required to support engineering and project activities. Required Skills & Experience

experience required CAD design and engineering modeling experience Experience with harness and/or cable routing Experience creating and modifying 2D drawings and 3D assemblies Basic mechanical/component design experience Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Understanding of CAD standards and engineering specifications Working knowledge of GD&T Experience creating or supporting Change Notices (CNs) Strong attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams Preferred Skills & Experience Windchill experience Creo experience Cooling-system design Powertrain integration Vehicle packaging and system integration Mechanical component design Automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, off-highway, or mobile-equipment design Product lifecycle management (PLM) systems Experience developing designs intended for manufacturing and production Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented CAD designer with experience supporting vehicle or mechanical system development . They should be comfortable working independently in a remote environment after initial onsite training while maintaining strong communication with engineering and cross-functional teams.
