Job Description

HosScans is a growing North Texas firm at the intersection of commercial interior design, drafting, and cutting-edge LiDAR reality capture. We're seeking a Commercial Interior Designer to join our collaborative team and work directly alongside our registered NCIDQ interior designer on a steady backlog of commercial projects. This is an ideal opportunity for a commercial interior design professional who wants to sharpen their construction-document skills, build meaningful NCIDQ experience, and grow into a leadership role as we expand. You'll work on impactful commercial projects, including:
  • Corporate & office interiors
  • Commercial tenant improvements and finish-outs
  • Retail and hospitality spaces
  • Industrial and warehouse environments
  • As-built and renovation documentation Responsibilities
  • Produce clean, accurate, permit-ready construction documents (CDs) in AutoCAD — this is the core of the role
  • Develop floor plans, RCPs, elevations, and finish/detail sheets that meet code and client standards
  • Support interior design development, finish selections, materials research, and space planning
  • Assist with FF&E selection, specifications, and package preparation
  • Coordinate with clients, field/scan teams, and consultants
  • Turn point cloud / scan data into precise 2D drawings (we'll train you on our scan-to-CAD workflow)
  • Participate in project meetings and design reviews
  • Support projects throughout the design and construction process Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Interior Design program (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of professional commercial interior design or drafting experience
  • Expert-level AutoCAD skills — required
  • Demonstrated ability to independently produce construction documents (portfolio sample required)
  • Working knowledge of building codes and construction documentation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Preferred (Not Required)
  • Revit / BIM experience (a plus — AutoCAD is our primary tool)
  • NCIDQ certification or active candidacy
  • Point cloud / LiDAR / scan-to-CAD experience (NavVis, Faro, Leica, Matterport, ReCap)
  • Experience with tenant improvements and commercial finish-outs
  • Skills in 3D renderings/models Preferred Background Candidates from reputable Interior Design programs such as:
  • Texas Tech University
  • University of North Texas (UNT)
  • University of Oklahoma
  • Other accredited Interior Design programs What We're Looking For This position is best suited for someone passionate about commercial interiors who can back up their design sense with strong, code-compliant construction documents.
If you love producing a clean, coordinated CD set — not just concepts — you'll thrive here. Candidates whose primary interest is residential interior design or aesthetic/decor work may not find this role aligned with their long-term goals. Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Work directly alongside a registered NCIDQ interior designer — meaningful, documentable experience toward your certification
  • Competitive base ($72,000-$85,000) plus performance bonuses
  • A clear path to grow into a design/drafting lead role as we expand
  • State-of-the-art LiDAR scanning and integrated scan-to-design-to-build workflows
  • Small, fast-moving team with innovative tools and national reach
  • Hybrid potential for the right candidate Interested candidates should submit a resume, portfolio, project experience, and — importantly — a sample of a construction document set they personally produced to office@spaceplanningspecialists.
