Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic educational role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to facilitate communication and learning by providing high-quality interpretation services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students and staff.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English interpretation Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), ideally in an educational environment Ability to interpret for a range of academic subjects and school-related activities Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of students and staff Compliance with state or national certification requirements for interpreting (if applicable)
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other educational professionals to gather information and plan for individual communication needs Support student participation and engagement by ensuring equitable access to auditory and spoken content Maintain professional confidentiality and ethical standards at all times Serve as a linguistic and cultural bridge within the educational environment Document and communicate student progress and offer feedback as needed Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated with interpreting best practices This contract position puts you at the center of student achievement, enabling you to make a real impact in the school community.
