Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings. Ability to interpret accurately and impartially between students, staff, and families. Experience teaching or assisting with ASL instruction, supporting curriculum delivery. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, working effectively with both students and educational teams. Certification as an ASL Interpreter or related credentials preferred. Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs and schedules.
Role Overview:
Provide direct sign language interpretation services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both in classroom settings and during school activities. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate accessible instruction and maximize student participation. Assist in developing and delivering ASL instructional support as needed, reinforcing student learning objectives. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with educational standards. Offer insight and awareness to staff regarding Deaf culture and best practices for communication access.
