Qualifications and Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and extensive knowledge of interpreting within educational settings Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in K-12 environments preferred Experience or credentials as a Teacher - American Sign Language are a plus Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, collaborative demeanor Ability to adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of diverse learners and classroom environments Familiarity with educational terminology and strategies for accessible instruction

Primary Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) to support students' learning, classroom participation, and school activities Collaborate with instructional staff and special education teams to optimize student success Ensure confidentiality of student information and uphold ethical standards of interpreting Provide feedback and support to educators regarding best practices for communication access Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and other relevant school functions as needed Maintain accurate records of services provided
