Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Based on your assigned site, you'll contribute 6.25 to 7.25 valuable hours each day, collaborating closely with a supportive educational team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Possession of a valid certification such as EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) with a score of 4.0 or higher, or an equivalent assessment. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong grasp of interpreting techniques for K-12 settings. Experience working with diverse age groups and communication needs. Professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset. Familiarity with the unique dynamics of educational interpretation (preferred, but not required).
Role Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear, effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff. Adapt interpreting styles to match various classroom settings and student needs. Foster an accessible and positive learning environment. Support students during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school activities. Maintain ethical standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
