Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Here's an engaging and straightforward job description based on your details: Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity offers approximately 30 hours per week, working closely with middle and high school students in an onsite educational setting near Paradise, CA. You'll serve as the vital communication link between students, their peers, teachers, and school staff, helping to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Qualifications:
Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, OR a score of 4.0 or higher on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or
NAD/ACCI
assessment Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 will be considered for an ASL Para role Sign Language interpreting skills for both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign Experience facilitating communication for students in classroom settings Ability to assist with academic subjects like reading, writing, and math Comfortable working with middle and high school age groups (state preference)
Responsibilities:
Support communication and facilitate learning for deaf and hard of hearing students Interpret spoken language to sign and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities Assist students with academics and, when needed, vocational or daily living skills Monitor and guide students during classroom, outdoor, or community events Collaborate effectively with teachers and school personnel to adapt instructional approaches This position supports a constant need and offers the chance to make a real difference every day in the lives of students.
