Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Certification or appropriate credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and up to date on interpreting best practices Prior experience interpreting in educational or school settings is strongly preferred Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster connections with students of diverse backgrounds Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in a school environment Ability to follow ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality at all times
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site interpretation services for students, staff, and meetings as needed within the school Facilitate effective communication in mainstream classrooms, assemblies, and school functions Interpret classroom lessons, instructions, and discussions to ensure full engagement for assigned students Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and administrators to support each students Individualized Education Program (IEP) Serve as a cultural and language mediator, promoting understanding of deaf culture and American Sign Language among staff and students Assist with any additional interpreting needs as requested by educators or leadership If youre ready to help bridge communication and foster an inclusive atmosphere where every student can thrive, apply now to advance your career and make a lasting difference in students lives.
