This position near Woody Creek, CO, allows you to collaborate closely with educational professionals, ensuring effective communication and equal access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID, EIPA, or equivalent preferred) Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working in schools or with children/adolescents is highly valued Strong understanding of educational environments and the needs of D/deaf and hard of hearing students Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately interpret classroom instruction, assignments, and discussions between students and teachers Facilitate clear communication for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities Support individual students' language and communication needs as directed by educational teams Adapt interpreting style based on the age and skills of the student(s) Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided Participate in professional development and district meetings as needed
