Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as an ASL Language Facilitator, working full time with a passionate and diverse school community near New Haven, CT. In this impactful role, you'll provide dedicated 1:1 support to a preschool student - or potentially another student matched to your expertise. This position not only demands strong interpreting skills but also relies on your ability to foster comprehension, boost ASL vocabulary, and offer individualized tutoring to ensure academic success. Contract dates run ASAP through June 11th, 2027, with a consistent 32.5-hour work week. The assignment allows you to immerse yourself in an urban educational environment where your talents can make a tangible difference. The first interview will take place virtually with both the Director and the Teacher of the Deaf, ensuring the best possible fit in terms of student age range and your background.
Key Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter; RID or EIPA credentials highly preferred Strong command of American Sign Language and techniques for facilitating comprehension and vocabulary expansion Previous experience working in a school setting is highly preferred Ability to work 1:1 with students, adapting instructional style to developmental needs and individual learning styles Commitment to professional growth—Agency offers continuing education reimbursements for certification Comfortable in a multicultural, urban school environment
Your Responsibilities:
